Sharing is hard

so um. i’ve been trying to get into a few things recently:

  • Drawing
  • Music creation
  • Relearning how to enjoy programming

i’ve been a programmer for as long as i know, to be honest. not to say that i’m an amazing programmer, but i’m definitely good enough to be long past the beginner stage.

i can’t say this with any other creative outlet.

i think a few months ago i made https://art.f0rest.net to put my drawings on a website that i own. (probably going to port it to 11ty like this website…)

but um. the scariest part of starting out is getting used to being bad. i hate it so much. it’s such a horrible feeling. feelings of shame are like the number one thing that stops me from doing creative things.

Normalise sharing scrappy fiddles

Normalise sharing scrappy fiddles is an inherently queer movement […] it’s about the things you are shy about. If it seems weird or a “big deal” to share something before it feels right to do so, then that is evil

i think that it is important to push past this feeling of shame. i think that shame comes from a place of self hatred. it comes from comparing yourselves to others constantly. it comes from a place of “i’ll never be as good as them”.

i should just mention here that it comes a lot from society! obviously.

um. i guess my thesis is: sharing is hard. do it anyway.
